Stone as memory
In Petra, architecture does not sit on the landscape: it is extracted from it. The facades, tombs and passages preserve the variations of the rock, from pale pink to the deep reds of the night.
The space of the desert
The Wadi Rum then opens up another reading. The shapes become simpler, the distances more difficult to measure, and the human presence is reduced to a few silhouettes in the mineral immensity.
This selection creates a dialogue between detail and horizon: the sculptures of Petra on one side, the rocky masses and desert sand on the other.
